Stanley, the negative voice inside my head, encouraged me to discontinue blogging this year. He reasoned; blogging isn’t popular anymore. Facebook, Instagram etc are quick fast ways to connect. This platform is expense and can be technically frustrating. Taking good images for this site requires skills, time and patients. Spelling, punctuation, word usage, vocabulary, didn’t we leave that behind in college?
My positive inside voice reasoned: I seldom have the opportunity to organize my thoughts in written form. It’s a skill that requires time, energy and thoughtfulness. I’m amazed at how quickly that skill vanishes if not used. My husband, Mark, often takes and edits images I use. His years of experience in the magazine publishing industry is extensive. So the point is to keep challenging myself.
To paraphrase Agatha Christie’s beloved fictional detective, Hercule Poirot, “it is the brain, the little gray cells on which one must rely.”
Stanley be damned. In an effort to keep my the little gray cells stimulated, I continue my blog.
